London, 18 July 2013 – Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria in Egypt and Farouk El-Baz, Director of Boston University Center for Remote Sensing shared their insights on higher education with readers of Al-Fanar Media.
In his editorial entitled Tomorrow’s Universities and the Seven Pillars of the Knowledge Revolution, Serageldin traces the changes in the patterns of knowledge and science parallel to changes in information technology, highlighting how this will be reflected on the levels of local communities and nations. He identifies seven major features of this profound transformation.
El-Baz’s editorial focuses on the state of higher education in Egypt amidst the revolt. In his article, El-Baz argues that while Egypt strives toward political and economic stability, education reform must also be a top priority in order to move the country forward.
