New York City, 31 August 2018– The Foundation to Promote Open Society (FPOS) has awarded the Alexandria Trust for the second time a grant to expand awareness and knowledge, and catalyze action to improve educational access and quality in the Middle East and North Africa.
The grant will support core activities of Al-Fanar Media, an online publication dedicated to covering key issues in Arab higher education, and a project of the Alexandria Trust.
This support will seek to strengthen three areas of Al-Fanar Media’s work: (1) research and writing on critical higher education issues in the Arab world; (2) mentoring and support of Arab region-based young journalists to write about youth, education and research; (3) acting as a convener of major actors in the higher education field in the region.
The grant shall be expended according to the project proposal and budget as approved by FPOS.
